…Creating on the Hill…

Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them

..A is for applique part 2…

..in the last post i showed you my applique block for Lucies challenge I found some extra photos today that i took while making it and thought you might like to know the stages

my calico block + wadding 12×8 inches (i used leftover blocks from a previous project) i am hoping to turn into a Fabric Journal so 2 blocks will be sandwiched together to make a page and then binding added to the edges.

..i said on the last post i am using up scraps from other projects, these 2.5 inch strips were ideal for..

the house and a contrasting roof..i am leaving an 1.5 inch border on the left to allow for eyelets to be attached when the pages are sandwiched. I pinned the house and roof to the calico

i lightly drew my flowers, stalks and leaves on the calico..i then made a paper template heart, cut 2 hearts from fabric and pinned to the calico.

I also cut windows and a door and pinned them to the house

once everything was tacked to the calico i used the walking foot and zig zag stitch to attach the shapes..i wanted a raw edge look to the page so any fraying will add to the mixed media look. The green fabric was pinned and sewn along the bottom of the fabric after i had stitched the flower stalks and house

one day at a time supplies 2

..then out came the inktense blocks for the sky and grass..so easy to use and lovely results on fabric

..and with the addition of embellishments page one of my fabric journal is ready..

Lucie announced yesterday that May’s theme is going to be Happiness is…

I have a plan…hee hee

..before i forget..Wednesday will be Shape of the Month and another giveaway to announce..

  1. You’re jamming now Mrs. I love to see the process of how you get to your lovely final result. It can be scary to play the way you do but you make it all look so easy. I am going to have a go.

    • …hee hee I’m learning how to be more accurate like you and your hanging out of the box like me (watch out you might get my wild and curly hair!!)!!
Walking in someone elses shoes is fun..a bit like playing dress up in your Momma’s shoes..
